These two Hindu words are at the start of the Krishna Mantra, a prayer to revitalize our association with the Supreme Person. The common translation is

O Lord, O Energy of the Lord, Engage me in your service.” It is a non-sectarian call to God in Sanskrit language that can be chanted by any individual for spiritual benefits.

It is an ode of praise for Sri Krishna and the Rama, two bodies but a single being as embodiment of Sri Hari Vishnu.  The divine chant takes believers to higher spiritual ground transporting them to another heavenly realm. It connects their souls to Sri Krishna. This mantra originates from the store of knowledge, the Vedas. The two names represent the final truth resulting in absolute peace of mind.

Sri Krishna Mantra for Success

ॐ श्री कृष्णः शरणं मम

“Om Sri Krishnah sharanam mamah”

“To the beloved Lord Krishna I pray to take me under your shelter, I surrender to you Oh lord.”

A chant of Sri Krishna’s removes all miseries and grief from one’s life and mind providing a shelter of peace.

Sacred Platform

Hare Krishna is performed from the spiritual platform. It goes beyond the lower stages of consciousness which include physical, mental, and spiritual. It is not important to understand the mantra’s language. Mental speculation and intellectual modifications are not required for chanting this maha-mantra. It comes automatically from the spiritual plane. Therefore, any person can indulge in this transcendental sound vibration without previous conditions.

The word Hara addresses the energy of the Lord. Both Krishna and Rama are used in speaking to the Lord. These words literally mean “the highest pleasure.” Hara is power of the Lord and helps us reach out to the Supreme Lord. The three words: Hare, Krishna, and Rama are spiritual seeds of the maha-mantra. It is a form of spiritual call for the Lord and His internal energy, Hara. The chant protects the conditioned souls similar to child crying for his mother. Mother Hara helps us receive grace from the supreme father Hari, or Krishna.

Benefits of Chanting

Hare Krishna chants awaken God’s love in us. It leads to total liberation. By chanting Hare Krishna, we acquire knowledge as well as detachment. It brings us out of the never-ending cycle of birth and death. This chant is an effective manner of self-awareness in the Age of Quarrel.  Chanting Hare Krishna purifies our heart and eliminates illusions. We are liberated from all worries keeping us aware of the source of pleasure.

There are no fixed rules for chanting. We are free to chant anywhere, at any given time, and under any circumstances. All other Vedic mantras are part of Hare Krishna chanting. Last but not least is chanting Hare Krishna on a regular basis purifies not only the person but every living entity around us. In short, whoever hears the chanting receives spiritual benefits. A person who chants Hare Krishna develops all the good qualities in life. We can chant Hare Krishna softly or loudly for personal meditation or with family members and friends.
